02.17.12 – CoramRx Responds to News of Counterfeit Avastin® Product

In light of the recent discovery of counterfeit Avastin product on the market, we would like to emphasize to our customers and patients that:

  • CoramRx purchases directly from branded and generic pharmaceutical manufacturers, and/or wholesalers whose policy is only to purchase directly from such manufacturers.
  • CoramRx is committed to the safety and integrity of our supply chain.
  • In case of a recall such as this, we immediately check our lot numbers and compare them to those provided by the manufacturer and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Any suspect product is immediately quarantined and handled as recommended by the manufacturer and/or the FDA.
  • We have received confirmation from our trusted Avastin distributor that they do not have any product that matches the lot numbers of the counterfeit product. Given this statement, along with our stringent supply policies, we feel confident that our Avastin supplies are not impacted by this counterfeit event.

FIRAZYR (icatibant injection), from Shire Human Genetic Therapies, Inc., is now available from CoramRx for the treatment of acute attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE) in adults 18 years of age and older. FIRAZYR can be self-injected by the patient at the start of an HAE attack, enabling patients to treat themselves.

08.02.11 – FDA Approves Subcutaneous Formulation of Abatacept to Treat RA

MedPage Today (8/2, Gever) reported that to Bristol-Myers Squibb announced that the FDA has approved a formulation of its "rheumatoid arthritis drug abatacept (Orencia®) that patients can self-inject subcutaneously." Previously, abatacept was available only as an "intravenous infusion." With the newly approved indication, BMS said patients will be able to "administer the biologic drug themselves at home." The subcutaneous formulation is to be "given as a 125-mg fixed dose weekly, preferably after an initial intravenous loading dose of 10 mg/kg."

06.14.11 – INCIVEK™ (telaprevir) Approved for Hepatitis C Virus

The FDA has approved Incivek (telaprevir) for the treatment of genotype 1 chronic hepatitis C in adult patients, for use in combination with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin. Incivek is to be used for patients with compensated liver disease, including cirrhosis, who are treatment-naive or who have previously received interferon-based treatment. This includes prior non-responders, partial responders and relapsers.

05.18.11 – VICTRELIS® (boceprivir) Approved for Hepatitis C Virus

Effective immediately, the FDA has approved VICTRELIS (boceprevir) for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C, genotype 1 infection, to be used in combination with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin. VICTRELIS is for use in adults with compensated liver disease, including cirrhosis, who are previously untreated or who have failed treatment with combination therapy.
